The Good News

What is Salvation?

Sin separates me from God, and salvation is deliverance from sin.

What is Sin?

Sin is the transgression of God’s law and we sin every day in thought, word and deed. The Bible says:

“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom.3:23). “The wages of sin is death”

Rom 6:23

Eternal death means separation from God in the lake of fire for ALL ETERNITY

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev 20:14-15

How does God provide Salvation?

God sent His Son into the world as a babe. Christ lived a sinless life, was perfect among men and suffered and died on the cross as He took the punishment for your sin and mine. On the third day He rose from the grave and showed His power over death. He ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven. The Lord Jesus is now preparing a home in heaven for all who put their trust in Him. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Col 2:13-14

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”

Acts 4:12

How can I be saved?

First, God convicts me of my sin.

Second, there must be repentance toward God.

Then there must be a simple faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible says:

“Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out”

Acts 3:19

I must realize that I am lost before I can be saved.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Luke 19:10

God does not desire for a single person to perish!

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”

2 Peter 3:9

How can I be sure this is true?

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”

God cannot lie. He always keeps His promises.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life”

John 3:16

Faith takes God at His Word.

“He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may KNOW that you HAVE eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God “

1 John 5:12-13

The Bible says there is only one way to Heaven

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6

Good works cannot save you

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Eph 2:8-9

What must I do to be saved?

1. Admit you are a sinner

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 5:12

2. Be willing to turn from sin (repent).

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Luke 13:5

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

Acts 17:30

3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:9

4. Through prayer, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal Saviour

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:10

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:13
